Dr. Maria Pau Ginebra, Full Professor of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (CEM) and Director of CEM and BBT, as well as of CREB's Biomaterials Division, has been awarded an Advanced Grant by the European Research Council (ERC) to study the mechanisms of interaction between biomaterials and bacteria, and develop surfaces capable of fighting infections and, at the same time, promoting bone regeneration. Advanced Grants are the highest distinction awarded by the ERC to research projects at the frontier of knowledge, and a culmination in the research career of Prof. Ginebra.

Dr. Jan Grzelak, PhD student Carla Arca and Microbiology Lab Technician Patricia Armero have recently joined BAMBBI as full time team members.

BAMBBI's team has been funded to carry out the project "Understanding the bactericidal potential of nanostructured calcium phosphates" at ALBA Synchrotron.

Prof. Maria-Pau Ginebra has ranked in position 128 in the second edition of the ranking of the most outstanding female scientists, recently published by CSIC. The ranking ranks women scientists who have an h-index equal to or greater than 18.

Dr. Maria Godoy-Gallardo, an alumni of the Biomateials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering Research Group, has recently joined BAMBBI as full time senior PostDoc researcher.

BAMBBI's team returned to ALBA Synchrotron for another round of experiments, which took place from the 17th to the 19th of september, 2023, with the invaluable guidance of Dr. Ana Joaquina Pérez Berna, scientist at the soft x-ray microscopy MISTRAL beamline.

TFM student Anna Cloeren (RWTH Aachen University, Germany) has arrived to Barcelona for a 3-month research stay to develop calcium phosphate nanotopographies within the BAMBBI project.

Inés Bueso-Inchausti has recently joined BAMBBI as a PhD student to work on on the characterization of bacteria-surface interactions of nanostructured materials.
