Four researchers have participated in the 35th Annual Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials, a landmark meeting coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the institution's founding, representing the ERC-funded BAMBBI project.

Together with several colleagues from the Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering Research Group (BBT) have recently attended the 35th Annual Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB 2026).

Specifically, BAMBBI members offered the following presentations during the conference, an international meeting that, since its creation 50 years ago, has led the evolution of a field that has transitioned from designing basic synthetic implants to developing advanced solutions for regenerative medicine, 3D bioprinting, and smart medical devices:

  • J. Grzelak, M. Iglesias-Fernández, T.P. Thompson, C. Biscaut, L. Ceccarelli, B.F. Gilmore, M.P. Ginebra. Nanostructured bioceramic surfaces potentiate antibiotic efficacy against P. aeruginosa. Oral  Presentation.
  • A.A. Menarbazari, J. Grzelak, M.P. Ginebra. Mechanically induced bactericidal effects of nanostructured hydroxyapatite and titanium surfaces under static and dynamic conditions for bone tissue engineering. Oral Presentation.
  • R.S. Nunes, C.A. Marzenta, A.A. Menarbazari, A.R. Sorribas, V.D.P. Cinel, G.C. Battistini, R.A.G. Silva, A.B. Seabra, M.P. Ginebra. Balancing cytocompatibility and antimicrobial performance in chemometrically optimized chitosan-stabilitzed sulfur nanoparticles. Poster Presentation.
  • A. Ruiz-Sorribas, F. Tampieri, C. Canal, M.P. Ginebra. Fighting bacterial colonization of hydroxyapatite: the role of nanotopography and plasma-treated liquids. Oral Presentation.
