Ji-Young Yoon joins the project as Postdoctoral Fellow

May 19, 2025

Postdoctoral researcher Ji-Young Yoon joins the BAMBBI team as an expert in biology. With a backgound in bone regeneration and tissue engineering, she received her B.Sc. in Biology from Chungbuk National University (South Korea), and later completed both her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Tissue Regeneration Engineering at Dankook University (South Korea).

Dr. Ji-Young Yoon has recently joined BAMBBI as full time PostDoc researcher. During the next months, she will be working in establishing co-culture models to study how biomaterials influence the interaction between immune, osteogenic, and bacterial cells to support bone regeneration and prevent infection."

Dr. Yoon is a researcher from South Korea with a background in bone regeneration and tissue engineering. She received her B.Sc. in Biology from Chungbuk National University, and later on, she completed both her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Tissue Regeneration Engineering at Dankook University. Her doctoral research focused on the chemical reprogramming of fibroblasts into osteogenic-like cells, titled “Reprogramming of osteogenic cells and the applications in bone repair and disease modeling.”

Throughout her research, Dr. Yoon has gained experience in studying various biomaterials, including titanium discs, nanofibers, and PU/PCL films, mainly focusing on their biological effects, osteogenic potential, and the underlying mechanisms involved in cell–material interactions. She has also been involved in studies exploring the potential of exosomes and stem cells derived from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHEDs) for regenerative applications.
