Sep 02, 2024

Dr. Albert Ruiz, an expert in biofilms, antimicrobials and hydrolytic enzymes, has recently joined BAMBBI as postdoctoral researcher.

Dr. Albert Ruiz Sorribas (Barcelona, 1993) joined BAMBBI as postdoctoral researcher on July, 2024. His main objective in the project is to study the interaction between the bacteria and the surface in order to enhance the bactericidal activity.

He obtained his PhD in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences by the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium), in 2021. The aim of his thesis, entitled: “Targeting inter-kingdom biofilms with antimicrobials and hydrolytic enzymes”, was to use enzymes to enhance the activity of antimicrobials in the context of prosthetic joint infections comprising both bacteria and fungi.

After completion of the thesis, he did a mission of two years in the department of Quality Control of Glaxosmithkline (Belgium), where he was responsible for the management of several project to prepare for the introduction to market of new vaccines.
